54 On Bath to open in July

54 On Bath, formerly The Grace in Rosebank, is to open on 1 July 2012, following an extensive redesign and repositioning.

54 On Bath, a boutique hotel in Johannesburg’s leafy suburb of Rosebank, will offer business and leisure travellers 5-star luxury. It features 60 standard rooms, 12 luxury suites and 3 penthouse suites.

Graham Wood, managing director of Tsogo Sun – Hotels, says the hotel has been designed with the discerning traveller in mind. ‘It’s for the person who seeks refinement as well as comfort and a personal touch. A person who can appreciate tranquility in the heart of a trendy and fast developing urban area,’ he said.

Tsogo Sun acquired The Grace in Rosebank as well as office buildings in Rosebank in October 2011. It consulted Brash Brands, an internationally renowned brand consultancy, to determine the vision and character of the new hotel.

Jacques-Louis Moolman, who moves across from Tsogo Sun’s Southern Sun Resorts division, will take the reins at 54 On Bath as general manager.

‘The vision of this new deluxe boutique property is to provide a unique guest experience combined with a personalised approach and intense attention to detail. Consistent small changes to the offering promise a new experience every time guests visit,’ he said.

David Muirhead, of David Muirhead & Associates, which designed the interior of 54 on Bath, said the landmark building had been given an interior that is urban chic yet classic. ‘It is all about a revival, not only of the hotel, but of the commercial node of Rosebank, making the design both exciting and uplifting,’ he explained.

Guests and local residents are sure to enjoy the leisure and fine dining options available. There is an intimate champagne bar on the 4th floor. An elegant restaurant, also on the 4th floor, opens up onto the roof terrace and garden with a view over Johannesburg. Guests can also enjoy traditional afternoon tea in the boutique coffee bar in the lobby lounge or on the terrace.

There are a variety of meeting rooms for conferencing. These can cater for up to 120 delegates.

Leisure and business guests have easy access to the designer shops, boutiques and entertainment facilities at the Rosebank Mall through the hotel’s link from the 2nd floor.

Art is a strong feature at 54 On Bath, with many photographic pieces specially commissioned for the hotel. These offer a visual journey that celebrates Johannesburg. The original brass chandeliers in the lobby lounge create a combination of old and new against a backdrop of classic wall coverings and modern design.

‘54 On Bath is being positioned as the antithesis of large chain hotels. It will have attention to detail like no other, providing an intimate, vibrant and energetic environment that is focused on a distinctive guest experience,’ concluded Wood.
